How can I clean my jewellery

Sweat and body oil can dull the shine of your jewelry. The best DIY diamond ring cleaner calls for just warm soapy water and a fresh toothbrush. Below is the recommend, expert tried and trusted method from Jeweler's Mutual, the leading jewelry insurance provider.

The best homemade jewelry cleaning solution is a mixture of a few drops of Dawn dish detergent in warm, not hot, water.

Let the piece sit in the solution for a few minutes, longer if it's very dirty, then gently scrub with a new, baby-size, soft toothbrush. To rinse, place the item in a new container of lukewarm water.

Make sure the water isn't too hot or too cold, as some gemstones do not take well to drastic changes in temperature.

You can dry the piece off with a paper towel or a regular cloth, as long as you're careful not to snag the prongs on the fibers.

Want to make sure you are really doing the best for your treasured gems?

1. Store in a separate fabric pouch or section of your jewelry box.

2. Wipe down with a dry gem cloth, NOT A POLISH CLOTH, regularly. This will help prevent surface oils from building up over time.

3. Take your jewelry off while you sleep, do house work, and shower! All those soaps and shampoos will cause buildup on your ring. Plus, fishing a ring out of the drain is never fun!

4. Visit your jeweler just like you do your dentist or hair dresser for regular cleaning and check ups . It's easy to lose a piece of jewelry or individual stones if you're not giving your jewelry regular check-ups. Your jeweler will deep clean your pieces for a brilliant shine, too! Two times per year is best or even more frequently for you really active ladies.

wHere do you source your gems and metals from?

We source our gems from around the world, continually searching for companies with eco-friendly practices and fair trade community support.  Conflict free diamonds are purchased from Diamonteers, who trade strictly within the Kimberley Process.

Most of our metals are purchased form the best source - YOU! We pride ourselves on paying fair value for scrap metal from the public. This ensures that we are having a low impact on the environment. Further more, we refine those recycled metals back into 24 karat pure gold with one of the few refiners awarded the SCS certification for eco-friendly refining practices. Any extra metals are purchased from a company that mines in the US and has been awarded SCS certifications for their fine gold and fine silver refining practices.

Luxury does not need to be sacrificed to also be sustainable.
